are you still running the fuel level through the selector?
It needs the tank wire to the sending unit, and a ground to the frame.

Explain "screwy"

The fuel level is going through the switch still. It currently says its almost full and it isn't,,, sometimes the needle sways back and forth a bit too.

I want to get rid of the switch and the extra wiring but don't know how, and none of it is in mymanual.

For the sender, you just need 1 wire going from before the switch, down to the sending unit.

it's usually pink or pink/wht. The schematic for your year should have color abbeviations for the wire.

Look in the tech section in this forum, there are electrical diagrams for most year models.

im gonna try and get it taken care of tomorrow... i checked the diagram for my year and still couldnt correctly identify which one im looking for.

its really hard to view things like that on a cell phone haha. anyways if i do find it what am i going to do exactly? im a little confused how the fuel gauge works i guess. the pink or pink/white wire goes from the gauge to the sending unit? whats in between? i guess i might be able to figure out when im looking at it but id like to get a vague idea before i start cutting wires!

or even some help on going around the stock wiring for now, just bypassing it and wiring up the gauge to the single tank until i figure out how to correctly eliminate all the non-used wiring...if thats possible.

look at the wiring schematic and build your own harness.
