emergency flasher

I have an 80 c-10. The button for the four way flashers on the column is gone. I looked at another truck and it seems like there is something missing/broken besides the button. Is this an easy fix...or should I look at putting a toggle switch on the dash?  If I use a toggle switch, can anyone give me some pointers on wiring it? Thanks!
