Removing Window with bad power window motor
« on: January 14, 2011, 07:48:30 pm »
Hey guys, what's the trick to getting the window out after the motor is dead? I'm trying to strip the doors down to the shell for paint and to replace the busted vent window but I can't figure out how unless you can get the window to go down...

Maybe I could've made that a little clearer. Yes, the window is stuck in the up position.

Anyone?

I have no idea how to get that window down to get it out. Do I need to replace the motor just to get it down? If so how does it come out?

Duct tape window in Up position
Remove interior door panel, arm rest, etc...

Remove 4 bolts at front bottom of door

Reach in and pull motor/regulator assembly towards outer door skin.
slide it forward and back to get rollers out of track at bottom of window.
collapse regulator best you can and remove thru hole in door by the button to lock the door(you may have to remove the little brace).

Thanks! I'll probably have to wait until next weekend to try it but it sounds pretty straight forward.

Once you get the regulator out, hold the glass and remove tape..
Let window go down all the way, then you can bring it up and out....

Before you replace your motor, take it apart and clean it up. Mine stopped working so I cleaned it up and greased it up and it rolls up faster than my 04 civic windows.
