looking for new engine

Where is the best place to get a new 350 long block?  I would like it to be bored .30 over but not to concerned with anything else.  I have one place that a friend of mine uses to buy his circle track engines and they have a 350 long block, all machine work done with a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty for 760 with a 360 dollar core.  This is a stock 350 other than a .30 overbore.  Anyone else have something better?  The price can go up if the engine has some better stuff in it.

check with some other machine shops and see what they have to offer.
if you find one; ask around and make sure their work is good before you make a deal.

Stock is fine for right now, as long as it has been bored 30 over.  When the warranty is up i can stick a cam and my vortec heads on it.

a good engine shop will put your heads and cam in it and still give you a warranty.

I'm wondering the same thing.  .030 over doesn't give you significant performance gains if that's what you're thinking.  $760 is a good price, though.  If they have a good reputation go for it.

I wouldn't waste your time with City Motor. I live in the area and EVERYONE I know that has bought blocks from them had to take them back and replace them. My neighbor had to go back 4 times just to get a decent long that didn't have problems. One came with no oil pump, one with wrong rings, etc.

I wasn't saying they were the best. I was saying more that they built longblocks and were close to you I would think. Why not just build one yourself?

sorry, wasn't jumping on ya or anything, just wanted to warn arcountryboy about what that company was like. I agree that he should just go to a local shop and rebuild what he has. At least then you know what you have and don't throw good money away for nothing.

Seems kinda cheap to me. If I were going to buy one rather than build one I would look into a GM crate motor.
