Hey guys I decided to clean up my trucks chassis a bit...The rear end had this stuff just caked on it. I scraped it off and there were two funny looking circles under where the gunk was. My brother wanted to go check out a house so I ended up driving him. Today when i went outside to finish cleaning my truck I saw something ugly :( theres fluid coming out of the funny looking weld circle on the drivers side. Heres a pic...


I sprayed WD40 and brake cleaner on the diff when I was cleaning it. Should i be worried about that stuff getting into the fluid and running a muck in there? How should I deal with this guys? I was thinking of using some of this JB Weld ive heard so much about to just plug up the leaks. What do you think?

Looks like a rusty pin hole, maybe a void in the weld that got exposed over the years. I'd drain it and hit with the MIG with the cover off then refill. Is the vent plugged?

Yeah is it not supposed to be plugged?
also ive never welded anything in my life and id rather not mess something up :D Would JB Weld hold up?

The vent needs to be run with a hose high up, with a check valve that only allows hot air to escape, and no water in.

You do not want to fool with JB weld on an axle leak.  One trip and KABOOM goes the rear because it is not exactly where you can see it leaking.

Put an ad in CL and offer $50 to fix it.  Any welder who needs extra cash will come to you to do it.
