Tow an old truck, need some advice

I am going to pick up a 1980 Custom Deluxe 20 4x4 and I want to know if a dolly would work or is it necessary to have a trailer. It is approximately a 500 mile trip.
thanks

auto or stick? does it have 2 good tires?
if automatic, remove driveshaft or you'll damage the trans.
I prefer to tow something that heavy on a trailer with brakes.

4 new tires, new crate engine last year, but it sits all the time.
Also, standard transmisson.

The will truck be fine on a dolly, then. You'd be more comfortable with a trailer though. What are you towing with?

Bring a toolbox and drive it, much more fun that way!

Drive it, but be ready to tow it if it quits on you. Since you were planning on towing it anyway it shouldn't be much trouble.

500 miles can make one great road trip, bring your tow stuff just in case.
