78 chevy c20 rear end

i am redoing a c20 pickup truck and want to put duel wheels on the back. the prob. is that the rims for the duel wheels dont fit over the stock drums for single wheels. I have 13 inch drums in the back any help would be greatly appreciated

The dual wheels should fit over the 13" drums.  The problem that i think you will run into is that 3/4 ton trucks have wider spring perches than a 1 ton.  The 1 tons have narrower rear springs and perches to provide room for dual wheels.  You may need to purchase a new axle (or relocate the perches on your current one) and buy 1 ton spring hangers.

you sure.........i thought the leaf packs were the same.....what is meant over the drum....? the rim wont pysically slide over the drum or i hits something behind the drum?

1 ton trucks have 57" rear springs and 3/4 and 1/2 tons have 52" spring lengths, but thats not what i meant.  The spring perches on a 1 ton axle are located closer to the pumpkin than a 3/4 ton.  This is done to help make clearance room for the dual rears.

aaaahhhhhh gotcha.........well i got a pair of leafs from a 85 dually and put them on my 81 half ton? they fit just fine. only difference i noticed was the front eyelet was physically bigger.i found out cause of when i changed all the bushings to poly............

no, i mean the rims physicaly wont go on the drums far enough. the duelie rears have a tapered drum where as my single wheeled rear has a straight drum. i tried to put the rim on the drum and it doesent even go on past the tip of the studs.
