do a voltage drop on your cables. set it to dc volts, measure from one end of 1 cable to the other and you should have almost no voltage .... maybe .1 or something very very low. Example would be like battery - at terminal on battery to - battery clamp.... - battery clamp to ground contact on block... if all is good maybe the new alt is a bad one.. just becuase its new doesnt mean its good.
