Radar Detector

You may want to do some research. I have a Beltronics Vector 955. But I keep getting busted by the "Instant on" radars. I don't know if they make one that detectes those kind before they clock you or not. My next one will be a radar jammer. I'm getting close to loosing my license.

I am new to this I have never had a radar detector. What is a "instant on" radars. A jammer isnt a detector just jams any signal? What bout lazers does that still jam?  Are jammers legal?

Yes, either a Valentine One or Escort.  They're the best and also happen to be about the most costly.  But all it would take is one ticket to pay off the costs of one of these devices.

Don't remember, sorry.... My price point was under $100 and I knew what it did and how well it worked.  The power button broke and I found a replacement used one on eBay which was about 5 models ago.  Where I have to park at times in the hood I don't want to put a lot into one.

Are jammers legal?

Not sure about the legality in different states, but if radar detection is ethical, then radar jamming is too. People who allow unchecked government to become Big Brother will lose their individual liberty.

So jam away!

The thing I don’t understand about these detectors is if your detector has got the signal of a radar/laser then its too late your busted the only thing I can see is if your in a group of people and you can slow down before they can so maybe the cop will target them and now you. As far as jamming its just like detectors some states say yes some say no. but if I ever needed something I would go with a jammer.

Radar jammers are great in theory, but a quick Google search turned up this and many MANY more sites that say they don't work. As for your detector, consider a cordless one. I really dislike that ugly cord hanging between mine and the cigarette lighter socket.

One of the guys I used to work with had one mounted in his grill or about that area so it was out of sight. The po po doesn’t like to see them hanging in the window anyway but he also had it wired to a speaker in the cab. How he kept it dry idk but it seamed like a good ideal

Likely weatherproof. I think those also have a rear-facing sensor. Police in Oregon (the ones I've encountered, anyway) that have noticed my radar detector have never had an issue with it. They usually give me a hard time for it doing me no good when I run a stop sign or the like. :/

Also, I recall reading that the police aim their radar guns at one's license plate for maximum reflectiveness/uniform location/etc. There are some covers made for front plates that CLAIM to reduce or nullify the ability to reflect that radar signal to the officer's radar guns. I don't know who makes them. I don't know if they work. And I don't know if they're legal in your area. Actually, they might not even exist beyond my imagination. If that's the case, patent pending via ME!!!

Unfortunately, trucks, especially full size trucks, have a LOT of frontal area that can also be used to bounce the radar gun's signal off of. It's just that the license plate is an officer's first choice.

Well some sates don’t require a front plate. and ive used a radar gun before it has almost like a red dot sight on it you just aim it any where on the vehicle and it will pick them up. As far as covering the plate with anything from spray bombs or plastic files they don’t work myth busters did a show on them awhile ago. Most of the plate things are more for cameras and it didn’t even trick them

There ya go. You can't beat advice like you get from a man who's actually USED the piece of electronics you're trying to avoid. I've always thought that from a distance, the license plate would be an awfully small target to hit. But the total area you have to aim at with a full sized truck is much greater than a Corvette. Or even a Chevette. Radar absorbing materials or coatings must be possible, since stealth bombers have the ability to reflect only a tiny percentage of their actual size. I don't know if us Joe Everybodies can go to the local body shop and order them up for personal use.

Anybody have any personal experience, or reliable testimony, that there are any methods from mild to wild to absorb/confuse/render useless a radar gun that's trying to get a lock on you? I'm asking out of curiosity, not because I would ever do anything to hinder our legal system in any way.
