Turbo350 to 700R4 Transmission Linkage
« on: March 14, 2011, 01:35:52 pm »
Hello, first post, i have a 1980 Chevrolet Scottsdale (C-10), i switched from a Turbo350 to a 700R4, how ever over the weekend i tried to adjust the linkage (Original Turbo350 Linkage)as it was trying to start in drive while the column was in Neutral.

Now i can't seem to find where on the 700 is the park positon. I seen several diagrams on the web that weren't helpful.

Is the Park position on the 700 parallel to the firewall or is it parallel to the ground, Truck seems to want to start in gear in either location.

Thanx

IIRC it's turned all the way counter clockwise when you look at the trans. Back it off 2 clicks and try to roll the truck. That should be neutral.

I just turned it all the way Counter-clockwise facing the Trans Shift lever, it wants to start in drive in that position, i'am assuming its Low.

Yeah I might be thinking opposite, but if you turn it all the way one direction and then go back two clicks you should find neutral, if not try it the other way. As you go from park to 1st the rod from the column will push down on the arm.

Here's some photos of my transmission lever

This one shows lever all the way Counter-Clockwise. Truck wants to start in gear here.

This is fully clockwise, is this the Park position?

   Two "Notch's" Counter-clockwise, Neutral?

I can't see your pics for some reason. I'll take a look at mine after work and let you know.

Ok, at the trans, if you grab the shifter and turn it all the way clockwise it will be in park. If you put a pin through the holes it would point roughly at 11 and 5 o'clock.
