hooking up new stereo
« on: December 23, 2002, 01:25:00 pm »
I have this Eclipse stereo that my Bro in law gave me.
I tried hooking it up but it would not power up.
I had the power wires all going to the one accessory connection at the fuse box "the one w/o the fuse"
and I had it grounded to the accelerator pedal bracket behind the the stereo.
Any suggestions on what I did  wrong?
Ive hooked up a few stereos before and never had any problems.

always reuse the factory power, and ground wired. why did you run new power and groung when they are already there? thats the best way to do it plus they make harnesses so you can connect your new deck to your factory wiring pain free.

Test it on a battery first. Put the yellow and red wires together on the positive and the black on the ground. If it dont turn on, then it is messed up. No need modifying your dash wires to try something out, I used the constant hot going to my cig lighter on the yellow wire and the red wire on the factory radio harness to the red wire.
