I forgot to ask....anyone know where to get the VSS sensor? Something that screws into my tranny and changes mechanical into electric pulse?

if it was me, id get an ls6 intake. easily bolt on more horsepower. thats what i have planned for my 01 5.3.
not to mention it just looks bad when you pop the hood. lol
and if you want more, fuel rails and injectors from an ls6.

Also a ls6 cam is supposed to be good for another 100hp in the 5.3, not sure if this was mentioned or done to the rig already, but I'm tired and getting ready for bed :p

Closer to 25 horse on the ls6 cam, ls6 intake or car intake in general means swapping accessories. If you swap to an 07 and up truck intake you'll be at the same power gains as an ls6, but you'll need an aftermarket cable throttle body. At that price point you're not that far off from an aftermarket or ported stock intake.

Agreed ^^^^^ I would rather have the torque from the truck intake...i do agree with the bad factor but my pocket book is so thin i can see right through it at this point. The plan is get the truck done drive it this summer enjoy it and come winter time it's getting an aftermarket power adder.....super or turbo not sure yet. Plan is to have around 475hp at the crank so not to hard to accomplish. Thanks for the input guys!

you got someone that can tune this thing for you?

anyway just watch ls1techs classifieds and pick stuff up used. ebay is garbage for getting deals any more. look for a 98 ls1 cam or an 02-04 (ls6) z06 cam and some ls6 springs. the stock 5.3 cam is good for a stock 5.3, bout it.

get a manifold, a turbo, upgrade your fuel system, fab some pipes, switch to speed density, have fun.

with a cam swap, a magnacharger would get you pretty close to those numbers, and they're pretty much all inclusive. cool in their own right.

Closer to 25 horse on the ls6 cam,

I read in CarCraft and a couple articles in Hotrod Magazine that they took a LS6 cam and valve springs and picked up 100hp on the engine dyno.

Though even 25hp out a different stock cam that can be had on ebay for next to nothin is still a good bump.

I'm not sure exactly how it happened but it was in the front left side....it was bent up so i think it was a "jump went wrong" kinda thing. That's not the only reason i scrapped the first frame though, it was cracked in a few places and it just looked like :(. I wanted to start with something that wasn't molested.

I have indeed but this thing won't see any hard wheeling for a long time so not really a need for it. Also the deal i got for the axles front rear, tires and rims for 1000 bucks I didn't wanna spend anymore money if i didn't have too.

Progress report for the day: All gauges in and working porperly (after an 2 hrs dicking with the fuel gauge turns out one of the stud terminals on the back of the gauge was missing a nut  ::) ) the shocks are on and done, the brakes are done other than bleeding, bed went to painter today!!! Basically all i need to do is mount the cooling system which is easy it came out of a 02 so all i need to do is make a couple brackets and it's good, put a driveshaft in and exhaust and sh'es drivable!!!!!
Thanks for all the support guys, It helps!!!
