my new bed
« on: April 01, 2011, 09:07:48 pm »
so im always on CL looking for parts and i came across a deal i couldn't pass up, it was a 80s short box bed for $600, i went Thursday to look at it and it had no rust which is rare since i live in NY state. the guy said he got it from Virgina and then never used it. it came with a tailgate that is real nice, looks like he started sanding it so it has a little surface rust but its strait and no dents. i got everything for $550, do you think this is a good price for it? what are the prices by you guys, im just curious since i know there are a couple of you from the south and theres got to be some difference in price.

I see them for sale on CL here in Toledo for 950 for "southern beds" I picked one up that came from texas for 450. had to switch out the front panel because it was bowed. yeah looks like a great deal though! nice score!

A good price, but considering it was local makes it a great deal.

You got a great deal!

That's a great deal. Are you replacing the box on your truck, or did you pick that up just for a rainy day?

Befor I bought the truck from my uncle he took the bed off and put it upright against a barn, the sides are very rusty and the wheel wells are rusty, the only good was the floor was solid and the end piece, the area where the lights go colapsed when it was tiped up so u get the picture...

In Mass is's not unheard of to get $300 for a Mint GM gate alone if you find the right buyer. $550 for a solid bed with a gate is a steal. I've sold a few beds in the $800-1,000 range.
