«
on:

went out wheeling with my jimmy and there was a bang in the front end luckly it happened close to home so i drove home but couldnt turn left at all. jacked up the front and found that out of the 3 studs on the steering knuckle 2 had snapped off. Any one have any tricks to get these out? are they threaded in studs or pressed in studs? thanks Marc

I had the same problem with my 79. Lucky I had spare parts just replaced the hole spindle I knew those bolts are hard as heck to remove I didn't want to break any tools so I didn't even try but if you can. Try a ez-out, or weld a nut to the stud. Both I have doubts about working that's why I replaced mine. Good luck

The 3 studs on the steering knuckle you are talking about are pressed in, you will need to take off the steering knuckle to make sure you get them out and double check to make sure the steering knuckle is not bent, I know it is beefy but I have seen one bent before.

I just went out to look at mine that I didnt install and they are right hand thread.
Just keep them soaked with a penetrating oil like PB Blaster for a day or so. Then double up two nuts and remove. May even want to try some heat. Too little heat is better than too much heat.

Also when the penetrating oil is on there, tap it lightly with a hammer. it helps the oil to penetrate deeper. you don't have to hit it hard just rap on it.

I couldnt find the site where I bought mine, but eBay works well. these are a decent price, even though you just need the studs.

Remember, those nuts are "one use only" type.
