Greetings from Alaska
« on: April 04, 2011, 07:15:31 pm »
I just wanted to drop in and introduce myself.  I've lived in Alaska since 1978.  In my earlier years I spent a lot of time in "Bush Alaska".  My work these days is all office work sitting in front of a computer.

Can't really do any wrenching these days due to poor health and a debilitating injury 3 years ago. (No sympathy, please.)  I will do my wrenching/building vicariously through you folks!  When I am able to find my manuals I hope to be able to provide some limited assistance to the forum from that perspective.

My family has been GM owners as long as I can remember.  I have always tried to do my own work.  I have had no formal training other than high school shop and a 100 level farm motors class in college.  About the only thing I remember is adjusting the valves and having to wire up completely an IHC Farmall "C" tractor.  Not a very complex task but fun, nevertheless.

I bought the truck in my signtaure new in 1975.  It was my DD for a few years.  It has sat outside unprotected or under a tarp most of its life.  Anchorage's climate has not been nice to it and rust has taken its toll.  Amazingly, the drivetrain and interior are still in excellent shape.  I also have a '94 Silverado that I hope to drive again one day.

I hope to also learn from you folks and hope to get to know you all better as time passes.

Nice to find another family oriented site.
