spare tire carrier
« on: April 05, 2011, 10:07:43 am »
You guys save me a lot of headache by learning from your experience! Thanks!

Has anyone here put a newer cable type spare tire carrier on the square trucks? I'm meaning the type that crank up. Seems to me it would be easier than laying on my back getting a tire down the old way. I guess when I was 20 I didn't mind so much either   ;D  how many mods did it take to make it work?

Thanks!

That sounds like a great idea.

Give me a long enough lever and a place to stand, and I shall move the earth or break this bolt...Whatever, just hold my beer!

I want to do this too. I've seen several on eBay that would work. My idea is to drill a hole just under the tailgate to fit the winch rod through. I wish I could see some pictures of someone elses setup.

Went to the local Pull A Part yesterday. Everything I found there was all rusted up.  :(  Need to find a yard that has some late model stuff in it. No wrecks there, just junkers.

It would depend on how your exhust exits from your truck if it will fit or not.

no problem there, it exits ahead of the axle.
