removing the a/c system

Has anyone taken  the a/c system out of an 85 k10 with a 305 in it. My a/c doesnt work and i dont want to bother with it. Im one of the few who never uses a/c. Im not sure why it doesnt work. So if anyone ahs removed theres could you help me out and tell me how. I dont want to lose my heat though i need that.

I have. I kept all the controls but used a replacement heater box from acdelete.com

I wouldn't remove it unless you have a reason, when you go to sell it someone may want it and be willing to pay more for it.  I would if you don't want to fix it why not leave it as it is?

If there is any remaining refrigerant in the system you should have it professionally reclaimed before you remove any components.

Im not sure if theres any refrigerant in it still. And i dont plan on selling the truck. I just think it would look cleaner under the hood without it. Im a big fan on haveing a nice looking engine bay.

Well that kit on acdelete.com looks awesome. but i dont wanna spend 315 dollars on getting rid of something. I might jsut wait to do all that when i put a new motor in the truck. Thanks guys.

So far I have just removed the condensor, compressor, and lines, but eventually I would like to get the delete box as well. It's super clean looking.

Its only 170 if your original fan works and your heater core doesn't leak. I replaced my heater core just for good measure and used my original fan. Some people have upgraded their fans from a newer truck which blow harder.

I think i will start out like grim is doing. Ill get the delete kit after next deployment when i got some extra cash. Grim was it difficult to remove those parts?

I almost forgot. Another reason why I want to remove the a/c system is because summit says that i would need to get an adapter bracket for something in the a/c system for the headers to fit. And its liek 35 bucks. I dont want to spend 35 bucks on something that doesnt work.

Nothing to it, but you want to be sure that the system is empty or you will be getting a freon bath. You will probably still need to make or purchase a bracket to keep your power steering pump attached properly, or you can use a spacer and a longer bolt, depending on how yours is set up.

Ill have look at the power steering pump when I get my truck back. I think Pep bpys would empty for a decent price. I know how dangerous freon can get. But Im sure I can fabricate some kind of bracket.
