1980 c-30 light issue
« on: April 14, 2011, 10:40:14 am »
ok I'm new here and this is my first post i have a 1980 c-30 4-door truck with a long bed and as everyone knows its a 1-ton truck. i use the truck to haul scrap metal and as a 1987 366 6.0l motor thats bores .01 i believe. now my question is Ive just parked it cause it stopped charging the battery and the lights now don't want to work. could the switch have gone out or what could have happened as a week before they worked just fine. also if  you want to know about the 366 we put it in about 2 weeks ago as my old motor started knocking in the 7th cylinder. so if you can help please reply

why dont the lights work? is it because the battery is dead because the alternator doesnt work or is it because of a wiring issue? i would take your alternator to get tested and make sure your battery is topped off first.

is anything else out besides just the lights? i would look around at the fuses and grounds. the parking brake bracket has many ground wires attached to it. youll have to get on your back, lay down on the floor pan and look way at the top.
