Stereo setup - need advice
« on: December 07, 2005, 11:28:00 am »
Relatively new 1986 GMC Sierra owner.  Existing stereo / speakers are ok, but I'd like to upgrade.   Given the limited space available in the cab, does anyone have suggestions for a moderate (not cheap but not top of the line) receiver/amp/speaker setup?   No hip-hop, just rock and country, but with the current setup, if I increase the volume the sound gets distorted.  I'm looking to drown out the road noise with loud, quality sounds.   I spoke with a guy from Circuit City but he was no help and preferred to sell me a load of stuff that probably wouldn't make a difference.
Appreciate all comments.  Thanks a bunch.

whats your spending limit for everything?

To help with the road noise i would suggest laying down a layer of sound deadening everywhere. For the receiver i would suggest either a pioneer premier or a alpine. I would need a spending limit to help much more and the max amount of space you have for subwoofers if you want them. including the max mounting depth you have for the subs behind the seat.

very nice component set for speakers:

for the amp i would suggest something from orion if your on a decent limit.
