starting problems

i have a 73 chevy it has a 305 i straight piped it starts up fine when cold but once it gets warmed up i turn the truck off and try starting it again and it wont fire im thinkin my headers are heatin up the starter but idk if u have any info let me know t

well i got it to finally start up every time it takes a min but finally catches so thanks everyone sorry for the head ack

it still shouldnt take a minute to start. what did you do to get it where it is?

i put a heat shield on my headers by the starter and i just turn her over and tap the gas once all the way to the floor and it catches

It sounds like you have an ok solution to the problem, but if the sarter ever needs replacing you should consider a gear reduction starter.

I guess I never needed a heat shield even with two different headers on my truck even with the starters being old. I can understand if they were old and the heat did it. But glad you fixed it

Ive usually seen the starter wrapped instead of the header but glad it works.
