76 fender removal
« on: May 02, 2011, 08:12:32 pm »
fenders on my 76 c10 are rusted out. I'm gonna start on them this week. What all has to be removed to take off the fenders.

unbolt hood, inner fenders, accessories attached to the fenders (wiring, battery tray, etc), unbolt fenders. remember how many shims go in each spot. Before you remove the fenders, mark the metal behind so you can align them easier. some people drill a tiny hole through the fender bracket and mounting surface to use as a guide.

Don't forget the 3 bolts on the radiator support.

thanks for all the help. inner fender is out on pass. side. hood is off, but something is still tight at front of fender near the corner where the grille connects. i had to stop working on it tonight because i ran out of time. will start right back tomorrow after work. I'm working outside and ran out of daylight. Will try to post some pics tomorrow if i get the fender completely removed!!
