I finally got and installed the TV cable brackets from Holley. i have an 85 k10 with a 305 and a 700r4. I adjusted it how your supposed to and now the tranny seems to have sluggish shifts.Almost like it slips when it shifts especially at light throttle. I think I might need to replace the TV cable because i don't thinks its adjusting itself properly. The part with the tab might just be worn out. My tranny has never acted like this before. What do u guys think.

So you set the cable all the way back in towards the firewall, and turned the carb linkage to full throttle? By doing so it should ratchet out and then the adjuster will be set. If it's not moving and locking into place then yes it sounds like the adjuster on the cable isn't working properly.

Thats what I'm doing but the tab is very hard to push and it doesn't always set in the same spot. And The tabs to lock the cable onto the bracket don't work very well. I rigged it up with some zip ties but I don't think that its working very well. I'm wondering if the cable is just old and the internal parts on the cable are worn and not ratcheting properly.Anyone ever replace this cable?

If in doubt I would probably just replace it. One bolt holds the housing end to the trans and then you lift it out slowly and unhook the link and hook the new one on and bolt it back down. I don't know if a new cable will come with a new rubber bushing or not but if it does you will want to use it. Then just hook it up at the top and set the adjuster where it needs to be by making it all the way tight then open it to full throttle.
