81 c10 mirror removal

I am probably going to use doors off my 81 longbed on my  76 shorty. How hard is it to remove the dumbo mirrors of the 81 doors? Any cheap ideas on lowering the rear??

there is a star screw on the bottom of the alum. cover---same screw type as the headlights--T-15 i think--could  be wrong--been a while.  remove cover and there are the bolts  holding mirror in place.
