A power steering filter?

I was browsing through Oreilly's site looking for steering parts, and I came across this:

Where is this located at on the truck? I don't think I've ever seen it in all my days of rooting around in the engine bay. Is it even necessary? Or is it something they want you to hook up in your lines so they can sell you something?

     Exactly, they are not necessary, the power steering systems have so little run and are sealed units.  This one goes in the return line of the power steering system, I have never seen one even in expensive cars, in my opinion it is just something else they sell and want to tell you that you have to change every so often just to make money.

Actually, I think mine has a pin hole sized vent in the cap....

I think they're self bleeding, as are all power steering units. All the one's I've ever heard of anyway. Probly some different ones somewhere. But its nice cause you never have to do anything to bleed the system after you do work to it or change the fluid.
