Places to go 4-wheeling in Tuscaloosa, Alabama?

My girlfriend bought a 1986 CJ7 Jeep, a pretty nice custom build rock crawler.  I'm going to visit her for Memorial Day weekend in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and we're looking for someplace to take her toy out and have a little fun going off-road.

Anyone here have any suggestions?

Here's her Jeep, it has some pretty good Mods including a 360 V8 and and Automatic Transmission...




Yeah yeah yeah... I know this is a Blazer/Jimmy forum and I have the Jimmy covered.  I just don't hang out on any other truck or 4x4 forums so thought I would check with the gang here...

A house we're about to make an offer on in Tuscaloosa county has a little rough two-track right alongside the property. It comes out a couple miles to the east on a paved road. Not really a big excursion type road, but seems like a great way to get the occasional dirt fix, not to mention testing modifications.

I know that Jeep. Scott Williams from the hoover area owned it. The shop I work at P/T (Sport Trucks) has worked on it
a few times. As for a place to ride, Check out www.caos4x4.com and  Grayrock ORV park in Mount Olive just north of Bham.
I will get you some more info when I get home this afternoon.

That's right.  I flew out to Alabama a few weeks ago to help Laura find a Jeep and we found Scott's for sale and after checking out a few others on the market Laura chose this one.  It has some nice upgrades, don't have the list in front of me but it's pretty nice.  I really like the V8 and Automatic Transmission myself...

Cool and thank you.  I'm flying out their for Memorial Day Weekend to helps her address some fluid leaks and check it over really well and then we're hoping to go do some off roading.

I tried to get her to go with a Chevy




But I'm afraid we lost her to the dark side...

Scott's dad also has a nice soft topped 4x4 blazer. (70-72 I think)  I will check with some people with CAOS and see if they have anything planned that weekend.

Cool.  Scott never mentioned it, but cool for his dad.  My first Blazer was a 1969 CST I was the second owner, that's it behind by buddy Erics Chevy and my buddy Little Joe's Ford.



Love the 1969 to 1972 rounded fender body style.

This was kind of a joke picture I took in that I put on some stock wheels and tires, (studded for the snow), and pulled up "close" to a rock, but never actually touched the rock with my tire.  I was at the Foster Mud Flat Races actually trying to keep my Blazer clean.  Did the down and dirty thing for years with my 1972 3/4 ton Monster Truck.

I'm here and that dirt road sounds like a good place to just test out the Operarion of the transfer case and front end, where is it located?

most times the transfer case is to the right rear of the trans and the front end is up front usually connected to the two front wheels ;D

Oh, *groan*  ;D

The two-track is just off of Lakeview and Renae in the Million Dollar Lakes area. The house is a bust for us, though, as
the home inspection came back with some serious foundation issues. We're about to make a conditional offer on a slightly older
house a mile or so away from it, closer to Million Dollar Lake.

thats a nice jeep, my brother just got his 86 cj-7 on the road its only slightly modified like 33's and a 4 inch lift but its also more a daily driver. july 21st is the local mud bogs so we can test it out. its not a chevy but at least its a 4x4.... well its got some chevy parts if that counts?

I know 86 is chrysler jeep, bilut my dad always jokes about his 74 because their AMC and AMC stands for "Al-Most Chevy"
