joined the club with an '89 JImmy
« on: May 23, 2011, 01:33:47 pm »
Drove over to Arkansas last night to pick up an '89 Jimmy.  Nice overall truck with some easy cosmetic issues.
First things I'll be resolving are;
1) - fix the exhaust to exit the vehicle.  right now it dumps before the rear axle, therefore I get fumes in the cabin
2) - clean out the cowl and source the leak into the pass. side of the cabin
3) - get new tires, especially on the front.  those mudders drove me crazy with noise and wandering all over the highway

The pinstriping was an original dealer option.  The $159 receipt for it is still in the glove box.  Still have the window sticker too.  All in all not a bad truck, I've been wanting a K5 for a while now.

Thanks all.  I've had an '87 for about 18 years that's been a never-ending project.  Went from a long time DD to its current state as driveway art.  I've known Chris for about 14 years (geez) from an old site called RRT.  I was just reminded that he had a message board, so here I is.

I bought the Jimmy to replace my current DD ('98 GMC Sierra).

Beastie, not sure offhand, I'll look at lunch.  Fronts & backs are different.  All I know is that I hate the fronts for daily street use.  So dang knobby they grib every uneven bit of road and pull me that direction.  They'll be gone very soon.

It looks like mud terrains in the back and boggers in the front.

Yes, they are Thornbirds on the front.  Even at only about 5% tread left I'm amazed at how many people ask if they can have them once I take them off.
