New Doors - Remove Coating or paint over??
« on: May 25, 2011, 12:54:58 pm »
Just bought a pair of New Old Stock GM doors.   Just was wondering if you are supposed to remove the black coating / primer that comes on the doors, or can you just scuff and primer right over that stuff?

I would just scuff them with a scotch bright pad and not take the paint down to bare metal.

Sand it and put a good coat of primer over the black coating.Use the coating as a self etching for your primer..
