window regulator question
« on: June 07, 2011, 05:56:12 pm »
I've read several posts about the differences between the doors on the 76 down and 77 up doors and know the regulators have a shorter shaft on the older style, but is that the only difference? If I somehow welded a longer shaft on, would they fit in 77 doors or are there other issues? I have 2 complete doors with good regulators from a 75, but would like to use my 77 doors to keep the door panels.

Guessing from the lack of response that no one knows... I know I don't. Try a test fit. If they bolt up, then weld on your extension.

Someone will know sooner or later. I'm just hoping to get an answer before I tear 2 sets of doors apart only to find it won't work.

the doors are different in the way the panel mounts.  If you put a 73-76 door panel on a 77-91 door you will have holes exposed.  You can put the wrong regulator in either door though.
