Front drop for rake with flip kit?
« on: June 17, 2011, 03:15:10 am »
Hey guys :) I was wondering if some of you lowering gurus could give me some insight on dropping my truck a bit. My truck has a flip kit in the back and im not sure if the fronts dropped at all. What would it take to get the front lower than the rear. I like that look alot. Ive read flip kits drop the rear 5 inches. How much would i have to drop the front to get it a bit lower than the back? Also what componants would it take? And finally would it cause any tire rubbing problems? I have 275/60R15 tires on 15x8 or 8.5 slot mags.

A rear end flip is usually good for 5-7" of drop. If somehow your front end isn't lowered you'd have a reverse rake goin on. If I remember correctly, stock height for our trucks was about 32" ground to fenderwell up front and 34" in the rear with an assumed 225/75R15 tire, so that being said, you've probably got  4.5- 5 Inches of drop up front as it is. I personally wouldn't drop the front end any more than that without 20's to pick it back up.

Easy answer is, 6" of drop, which I DO NOT reccomend with 15" wheels. And just so you know, 3" Drop springs ride terrible. I would try and find a 1" Lift shackle set for the rear end and just bring it up.

5 inches of drop on the front will give you just a bit of rake.  I had mine lowered 5 in the front and 7 in the rear (flip kit with dropped shackles) and it sat level.  I took the shackles off so it wasn't always hitting the bumpstops.  I run 235/70-15 on the front and don't have any much trouble unless the road is pretty rough. (like huge potholes)
