Chevy Outdoorsman Package?
« on: June 20, 2011, 01:32:38 am »
I was recently doing some reading on a newley aquired project (1977 Chevy 4x4 longbed step side) and I came across an "Outdoorman" package that Chevy offered.  It was basically for the avid hunter, or fisherman, that would buy a truck and the sale would include gear such as tents, sleeping bags, lantern's, etc.  Does anyone have a picture of one, or maybe some of the option codes if any?  I am thinking about turning my new project into a replica, as this truck will be seeing the woods and local backroads to get to my favorite fishing holes.  Thought it might be a neat little project, as I will be rebuilding the 6 cylinder that is in it and keeping the 4 speed on the floor.  Should have plenty of grunt for those weekend trips to the woods!!

Never seen such a thing but that would be neat.  Gotta say I love the sound of the truck, 4x4 4 speed longbed stepside, sounds like a neat truck.  Is it a k-10, or k-20? It should have pleanty of power, I had a '76 that had a 250 straight 6 with a 4 speed, not 4x4 but still it had enough power to move way more than a half ton of stuff.

It came with a .30-.30, really?  I seriously doubt GM would be able to do that today.
You have to post photos of the truck and the accessories...

Well back in the day  ;D

Different zones for the Chevrolet Truck Division would run Limited Editions this was a time
that they actually cared about their customers. it was not shortly after that local dealers
would put together "Their" package, it worked better on the passenger cars in my opinion
mainly due to the trucks were changing to a more "Car"  influenced vehicle.

In 1985 Chevrolet offered the outdoorsman package it came with hunting, camping or fishing gear. They were offered in blue montian slate, Colorado gold, Gun metal grey, and Forest green

I just finished the restoration of my Blue mountain slate K10 short bed. It came with the hunting package. which came with a winchester model 94 30-30 rifle, scope, scope mounts, gun case, window rack, safety glasses, and a winchester hat.

I can't attache any pics say file is too big.
