winter tires

What do you guys suggest are the best tires for a canadian winter for a 86 k10 4x4?
my 33" bf goodrich mud terrain were great in deep snow, but on the icy roads and slushy roads they were horrible, which wasnt a surprise to me because they are offroad tires not on-road but if anybody has an good suggestions I would like to hear a few of them. thanks

On ice and slush-covered pavement all-terrains are usually your best bet.  ProComp ATs are sever-weather rated and have a 50,000 mile warranty.  I ran Michelin LTX ATs before and they were the best tire I've ever owned.  Pirelli Scorpion ATs are also quite nice.  On a fullsize I'd say stay away from BFG ATs.  They're fine on Jeeps and small trucks but fullsizes just seem to annihilate them.

well, I just bought myself four new Bridgestone Blizzak winter Duelers, 235x75x15.
They dont really give me that monster truck effect anymore being so small but, I spose atleast now I have some traction on our crappy icey roads here in quebec canada.   by the way, just incase anybody else is looking for a set of winters, I am very impressed with these.

I bought a set of studed 235/75/16's Cooper Discover M&S for my 86 K20 last fall. They dig! I plow 40 driveways every storm and I have only had to get yanked once so far this winter and that was because I backed into a snow bank with both RH tires and was right up against some landscape crap/trees. Had to shovel myself three times in our Cristmas storm just so much snow that when I backed throught it the truck just sunk or pushed up to the bank and the plow got hung up on it. Twice I just banged 2nd to reverse a buch of times and clawed my way out. Great tires.
