Cold Start Question??

Hello, I have an 83 K20 350/4 speed and it runs good, but it will not start after sitting for a week or so unless starter fluid is used.  I am not sure if there is a check valve or where it would be, but seems like the carb is dry when I try to start it cold.  Just curious if anyone else had this problem and what I could do to fix it.  Thanks.

its usually a leak somewhere in the fuel system could be in the carb its self think of it like this if you hold a straw in milk (fuel) then put your finger over the top and pull it out it will stay but once you remove your finger (a vacuum leak) then it will all pour out. most time its a leak in the carb i found one on the top side of the fuel bowl. no fluid would leak out just it would let the fuel dry out then causing the needle to drop and release the finger off the straw.

How would you go about looking for the leak?  Just clean thearea up around the carb and look for leaks?  Would the leak be on a fuel line or a vacuum lim?  Thanks for the reply.

the problem is it could be in the carb but leak where no fuel comes out. not a vacuum leak but a leak where air gets to the fuel and lets the fuel evaporate then the bowl drops and the fuel flows back to the tank
