crew cab carpet with newer bucket seats
« on: July 05, 2011, 06:03:47 pm »
Hey guys i am working on my 86 K30 crew cab and am in the process of ordering interior supplies. I am wondering if crew cab carpeting will still look ok, if i cut out the raised floor section on the front seats, and make it a flat floor to accomodate the 04 hd seats i have?

Thanks

Depends on whos carpet you get. I know ACC is form fitted. They have a steam press that they use to mold the carpet into shape. I guess you could always cut slits in the carpet to make it work, like a interior shop does to form fabric around corners.

Years ago I bought some of that cheap carpet material from walmart and did what beastie_3 said. Then I used a hot glue gun to hold it together. It worked for that truck. I used scraps of the material when I had a void in the material after making a cut. Not sure if I would have the nerve to cut up a brand new ACC carpet though...but my point was that I did something similar with lower quality material and the hot glue to hold the cuts together worked well.

Give me a long enough lever and a place to stand, and I shall move the earth or break this bolt...Whatever, just hold my beer!

Thanks for the reponse's. i think i am going to go with the acc and try to cut slits in it. It for the most part will be under the drivers seat anyways. Thanks again

You might see if you could get carpet for a blazer, and but it up to the rear carpet from a crew cab. That's what I'm thinking about doing on mine, also can you post some pics of what you did to your floor pan and how you mounted the seats. i have the same seats in my crew cab but when i put them in i left the hump in. I'm not very tall (5'7") and I'm still way to close to the roof, I'm thinking about blazer floor pans to drop it down.

If you match the front of the Crew to be like a Blazer (assuming the gas tanks are gone) you could technically use the front portion of a Blazer kit.

ALSO, you can seam interior carpet just like you can house carpet.

Thanks, i think i will end up slicing and seaming the carpet just a little bit.

I am kinda making my own seat mounts, but i think i am close to having it the way i want.

I will keep you updated how it turns out.
