6.2 C vs. J interchangeability help please
« on: July 10, 2011, 02:01:26 pm »
my 84 parts truck has a C 6.2. there is a local gentleman looking for a core/spare engine for his truck, but he has a J engine. from what i could find on the net the EGR and emissions stuff is the main difference. other than swapping the intake manifold to his J spec engine what else would be needed to make it work? i am diesel illiterate!!! any input or help is greatly appreciated.
ex G-body drag fan. best was 11.86 on a 93 octane SBC street car.

You're correct, the intake manifold is the main difference.  He actually doesn't have to swap anything to make it work but swapping to the J code intake manifold is a good thing.  The only other difference is the the J code engine heads have larger valves which meant they were more prone to crack between the valve seats.
