lose connector
« on: August 03, 2011, 08:33:36 pm »
so while under the dash i notice another connector just not going to anything, it was near the bottom of the column, it has green gray pink blue going into a connector and a fairly large black wire hooked to it. now the black wire looked like it was connected it something in the column but it wasnt, so any idea.

That is the Cruise Control Harness.

The black "bump" on to p goes into a hole on the right side of the column near the bottom.
The wire on the right goes to the turn Signal stalk and the harness on the left goes to the cruise module.

yup, cruise control. that black harness that looks like telephone wire goes up to your turn signal stalk.

So i was reading a question in here about a guys horn not working. And another person said to put a jumper wire into the black wire on this connector and jump it to a ground, and the horn should work. So i did that and got nothing ( any ideas?) but i also put it in the teal looking wire next to it and my buzzer under my dash went off. Any ideas of how to actually make that function? I am assuming it is something in the steering column

You have so many posts going at once and have asked the same question in all of them. They said if when you ground that black wire, the horn should sound. If it does it means the horn button on the steering wheel is bad, if it doesn't it means something else is wrong. Probably the horn relay you have yet to find. Find that plug for the relay and plug one into it and see if that solves your problem.

I was not being a jerk. I simply stated you reposted this stuff a lot. Then I explained about that grounding the black wire thing. Someone posted a picture of where the relay plug was on one of the other topics, it should be on top of the fuse box. Look for a square shaped plug there.

79, he asked in ONE other post and didnt get a response. It would be apparent that the info in that topic wasnt helpful. The Sgt was asking about a different post, that someone else wrote, and wanted clarification.

Sgt, the horn question isnt related to the lose connector topic, it makes it hard for others to follow posts or find posts when searching.

Calm down devil dogs and 79. Keep it friendly. If someone ask the same question more than twice then just ignore it simple as that no need to act a fool and ruin a good site.

I would take a circuit tester and try the horn button and see what works. Take the wheel apart and see what's color goes where. There's only a turn signal, horn, dimmer switch, and the key switch on a basic wheel and its all color coordinated.
