headers?
« on: August 04, 2011, 10:17:13 pm »
i want to get rid of the exhaust manifold off of my 85 k10.  i repplaced the 305 with a 350 4 years ago, but it looks like it is real tight on the drivers side with the steering linkage.  will these just bolt on or will they need to be special?  i will be super pissed if i get a set and they are not correct or need to be modified   thans for the help    Thomas in Des Moines

I've got a 83 C10 with a 350 in it.  I've got Hooker headers on it and they
fit real good.   I did not have to dimple any of the tubes for for clearance.

I have used cheap headers before on different applications and always seem
to have had to do some slight modifying.  I really recommend spending the addition
money for a GOOD set.

I have Hedman headers on my 85 K10.  They fit ok.  The spark plugs are very close in some spots and the collector on the riders side rattles off the front sping shackle at times.  The slip on collectors need to be tightened more often than I'd like too.  I'd try the Hooker ones if I did it over again I guess.

You biggest issue will be with the RH side rattling against the shackle, or the driveshat, As far as spark plugs I have had to dimple a few sets over the years just to give a little extra room for them not to fry the boots.
