Front tire size and Rear tire size for the Pro Street look
« on: August 09, 2011, 12:43:07 pm »
Hey guys, I'm gonna run the following for a Pro Street look on the cheap.

Front - 7" Rally with 255/60R15's

Rear - 8" Rally with 325/50R15's

This is gonna cost me about $800 all said and done.

Am I crazy?

I know the 325's will be a little balloony, but I can't spend "much" more than $225 a tire or the wife will come unglued.

The truck is already a little lowered so I'm thinking this is the way to go until the economy comes back.  (which it will!!!)

Other people of whom I won't mention have said it will look like a low rider.  Nothing against lowriders, but to me that usually consists of tires hanging outside the wheel well and a lot of jumping up and down with an exotic paint job.  (of which does not describe my Blazer, I'm a prostreet guy)

Your opinions are welcome either way.

for a true Pro street look I would run a narrower front tire like a 215 and maybe a 305 to keep the balooning in check.

Ok, your right.  Pro street really would be smaller tires on the front.  Maybe I meant Pro Touring on the cheap.  Anyway, maybe I'll try the 315's.  To tell ya the truth, i'd like tires so big they look like the cartoon up above.  Lots of wheel, but still lots of tire and low.  Any agree?

In that case I think some 275 all 'round would give it that track car look and still be driver friendly, can rotate tires and only need one spare.

Well, it's come down to this,  I'm gettin' some 29x12.5 R15 Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pro's.  They have a 8-12" rim approval and based on my calculations, I'll have about an inch of clearance on each side.  Their not as cheap, but I think they'll be worth it.  Only drawback I see is my ride might be a little rougher.  Has anybody else experienced a rough ride with M/T's?  Oh and I got my 255/60's this weekend.  They look awesome!  My wife will be so glad when I stop talking about tires.  She just does'nt understand.

On back I have 315/70-15's on 15x8 wheels with a 4/6 drop. They fit without any mods to the wheelwells, barely.

Nice.  That's exactly the look and stance I'm aiming for.  You have a larger pic?  I can barely see it.

Also, the wheel well is 14".  The rim is about a 1/4" off-center so I have a 1/2" to 3/4" clearance each side.  I've measured again and I'm absolutely sure.  $209 each tire is a lot and that includes shipping.

Sorry I was out of touch for a bit. I'll see if I can load a larger pic. If not, maybe I can email one.
1/2 inch is about right, when you put your finger between the tire and bed, it touchs both.

It won't let me load my other pic, so I'll check your profile for an email address or something.

The site doesn't seem to let me load a larger pic. I'm no expert at this.
PM me an email address and I'll try to send a larger one.
Sorry.
