slow project......at least im doing something
« on: August 21, 2011, 10:01:54 pm »
i am low on cash, but need to badly get to work on my 85 silverado 4x4.  the latest thing i had to do was pul the drivers side tank and clean up.  i am picking up some new tank straps and have cleaned and painted the tank.  it looks soooooooo good!  i am stoked to get going on more projects even if they are one at a time.  i will try to post some pics of the truck and of the tank in upcoming days.  thanks to all for all of your help!!

Not everybody can tear their truck completely apart and do a ground up, the most important thing is you keep fixing it up.  Glad to hear you are excited.

What did you use to paint your tank, just Tremclad or Rustoleum?  Anything to slow rust is a good thing, I know my straps on the driver's side are barely hanging on and there's a hole in the tank itself, it can only hold about 10L before it spills out!

i just used some engine paint that i had around.  i dont know how to fasten the new straps, the old ones look like they are mechanically riveted on.  im gonna try to grind them off this weekend and hopefully get it re-mounted next week.

Its the little things that count and keep ya moving forwards man! I've hit a point with my 74 that all the stuff its ready for, I don't have a place to do it.

I wanna shorten it, and lower it, two things that should not be done in an apartment complex... soon enough I'll find a place, for now its just cruisin!

Slow doesn't mean nothing can get done either, my budget runs anywhere from $20 to $100 per pay, a lot of stuff I acquire through trades or free.  If you look at mine, I think I'm $600 or so into it so far including the purchase price, but like you, a little paint here and there goes a long way
