Hello all from Northwest Indiana. I like what I have seen so far on this site.
Now for the help.
I have an accelerator pedal that is real hard to press and when it moves it squeals the tires most of the time. I have oiled the pedal mount, the cable and the springs on the side of the tbi. One can of lube later I still have gotten nowhere. Any ideas? Its an 87 4.3 V6 with an auto trans.

First off, welcome to the site!
I had the same problem with a 3.1 Beretta a few years back. The brass bushings on each side of the butterfly in the throttle body were worn causing the rod to bind up (My Beretta had almost 300,000 miles on it). I ended up replacing the throttle body with one out of a junk yard and was back in business. Not sure if this is your problem, but it sounds like the same thing to me.

Thanks for the greetings. I think the worn bushings may sound like what the problem is. Like a flat spot or something. Only thing is the truck has 86xxx miles on it so a worn bushing dosent make sense. Is there any springs of some sort that may have fallen off on the tbi? No cruise by the way.

Welcome from West Texas. Try cleaning the throttle plate and throttle body. I've had several 5.3s fo the same thing. Keep in mind it may run funny until the ecm relearns the throttle position. Not sure if the 4.3 will have to relearn but I no the 5.3s do. Usually straightens up after 100 miles or so.

Wow I feel like a rock star with all the people welcoming me and my old trucks! Somebody tell the joy of them to my girlfriend.
As far as cleaning the throttle body can I just shoot a can of carb cleaner down it and try to clean with an old brush or something. Or are we talking about removing it.
Zieg, Hebron I see. Been thru there a bunch on 231 going to 2 than up to valpo. Did you go to a truck show at whites pit stop a few weeks ago?

I usually spray throttle body cleaner on a rag and clean most of it, then spray just enough on the pivot points to clean what I couldn't get with the rag. There's just something about spraying alot of cleaner down the intake that doesn't sit well with me. So far I haven't had to take any off. Mine usually stick where the throttle plate hits the valve body. Just cleaned the one on my mother in laws 99 Z71 a few weeks ago. It was sticking pretty bad. I also put a small squirt of wd40 at the pivot points.

I use an old tooth brush. Just spritz a lil carb cleaner on the grime where the throttle plate meets the bore and spritz some on the tooth brush to wet it, then hold the throttle plate wide open (engine off of course) scrub the bore out and the edge of throttle plate. Let the throttle plate close and start the engine and hold the RPM up a little and let it suck it all down until it clears out. The fuel from the injectors will be the final rinse.
