Hey everyone, I'm Isaac. I'm new to the site, but a long time fan of this body style truck. I've helped build a couple in the past, but finally picked up one of my own. I recently purchased a 79 crew cab dually with a 454/400 setup. It was already lowered in the back (via flipped axle and huge notches), and should be lowered in the front by the end of the weekend. I also have another project truck that I'm working on at the moment, so the dually won't get much lovin until my 97 Nissan is on the road. Here's a couple pics of my dually...

Welcome Isaac! I'm from N Dallas. Some nice looking projects. That dualie will look sweet slammed like that. It looks in nice shape ... like lots of old steel down here. What are your plans for the Nissan?

Thanks everyone. The dually is eventually going to get a whole list of stuff done to it. I plan on it laying out and it being set up for 22s. Rework the interior, and maybe an engine swap, unless I find some magic way to get better fuel milage out of the 454. I've considered a 700r4 trans and reworking the rear gears, but I'm not sure if i'd be wasting money or not. Opinions on anything I post is always welcomed.
As far as the Nissan is concerned, it already has a long list of mods, and the list is getting longer. Shaved doors, 4wd fenders, Toyota 5 lug conversion, phantom billet grill, tailgate skin/rollpan combo, one-off back half (narrowed 4"), flipped & upper control arms (pass. is now driver and vice versa), Pathfinder gas tank, tweed interior, tv in the dash, & play station in the center console. There's still alot to do; little tedious stuff always takes the longest. I don't plan on the Nissan seeing the road until sometime late this fall/early winter. There's a pretty fun, 2 day show in Tyler Texas called Turkey Drag the first weekend of December...I plan on driving it there.

and welcome man from northeast ohio. sickkkkk trucks. im a mini trucker and a dually fanatic as well. i could swamp you with questions haha but ill let you get settled in . great looking rides man look forward to the builds

Ask away. I'll answer any questions you have to the best of my abilities. If I don't know an answer, I can find out. We have some pretty crazy rides between me and my friends.
I got the dually lowered in the front tonight, and the brakes problem fixed. Stupid rubber lines going to the front wheels weren't allowing fluid to get to the calipers. Now all I have to do is get my horn working and I can get her inspected and the title transferred to my name. heck, I may just use one of my tanks, compressors and valves and throw in my train horn...lol... I do plan on bagging it...eventually... A buddy of mine offered me a set of tube control arms tonight in trade for my Nissan...I'd be keeping all of my air ride components; including the 4 link...I don't have much more than $1000 in the Nissan...I'm actually considering this...strongly... What do y'all think?

hmm... what tube arms is he offering you ? at first right when i read that i was like what ? a set of arms for that nissan ? haha but you are keeping pretty much everything, so not bad man. and i know control arms for 1 tons arent cheap, well there not cheap for any vehicle haha. how much did you drop the front down ? how did you do it ? springs, spindles ? what is your goal for running tube arms ? as in why do you want those? just curious man. i have several ideas and thoughts as far as that goes. id like to share with ya, after i hear of your thoughts.

For right now, the front is ghetto dropped. Aka, cut springs. The rear was done by flipping the axle and installing HUGE notches. I'm not going to make the trade for the control arms; I don't nessicarily trust the guy that built the arms. It was Mike from DallasHotRodParts.com. He used to own Barnyard back in the day, and had alot of probems with his tube arms. Not only that, but two months before I started seriously tearing into the Nissan, I tried about once a week to get ahold of him for Nissan arms, a 4 link, and an engine crossmember. I finally got to the point where I needed parts, ordered them from other places, they were shipped to me, then he finally replied. I'm not going to do business with someone that doesn't care about his customers. I'd rather pay a little more and get the flat plate arms from Taylor at Michigan Metalworks. I am open to other ideas though, so feel free to give your opinion.
