lift/tires
« on: December 14, 2003, 09:19:00 pm »
ok i have a 87 silverado 3/4 4x4.  I want to raise it and put some bad a** tires on it.  I dont have a huge budget so my question is what size lift and what size tires.  Truck will be a daily driver with some off roading and basically look like a show truck.  Another concern is snow since i live it ct.  I do see alot of it.  So as far as tires go i want something thats impressive looking, street drivable, good in snow, mud and dirt.  i know this is asking alot but its worth a shot.  As far as the lift goes a few minor mods are ok.  And im not cutting the fenders!!!  Thanks

Rich

I think a good combo is a 6" suspension lift and 35" tires. It looks good on these trucks. I went for the 4" lift and 33" tires but i think it looks to small. You might be able to go 4" lift and 35" tires but you said that you dont want to cut the fenders and there is a chance you might have to. As far as tires go, i live in Minot ND and it is icy and snow covered 8 monts out of the year. I am running the Maxxis Buckshot Mudder and have had no problems. I hav also heard good things about the Interco Trxus Mud terain. Good luck with your project.

6" lift and 35's sound about right. I was thinkin the same, but I was hoping I could fit 36's, I dont wanna hack my fenders either.
Glad to see someone else from Connecticut here!

You should be able to fit 36's with six inches. It really depends on the kit. some give you a little more and some give you a little less. Like my rough country 4" kit really gave me about five" which gives me plenty of room to run 35's. (i wish i would have know before i bought my 33's!)
