new front calipers/pads (choices-rock auto)
« on: September 11, 2011, 01:18:18 am »
87 2wd reg cab

i was on rock auto looking to buy two new calipers. i was going to get the ac delco loaded with the durastop.
i found all the choices confusing. what is the difference between pads designated  11x2 and 11-5/32x2-3/4
i am guessing that is referring to the dia. of the rotor and width of the pad. i measured my old pads and they are just short of 2"
so i guess 11x2 is the measurement that pertains to my truck. correct?

what is the story with the two choices?

those measurements are your rear drum sizes.

The rear drums tell them what brake package is on your truck, that is assuming that the rear end has never been changed.  If you have ever tried to interchange calipers, or rotors, or brake hoses in front there are two kinds that will not work with each other... I learned that lessen trying to take a caliper from a 86 Suburban and try to put it on a 86 GMC, nothing worked even though the pads were the same...
