Craigslist Finds
« on: September 11, 2011, 08:02:16 am »
Do you guys have any craigslist stories ? Up here in NY the salt destroys sheet metal .On my shortbox project the bed floor was a mess .Someone had welded pipes to the frame to prop up the bed where the crossmembers had rotted away.I was toying with the idea of of building my own floor out of steel and treadplate or possibly even a wood floor. Then one day while browsing craigslist I see an ad for a 6 ft floor for 75.00 about an hour from my house. I call on the ad and I get the guy's wife ,she sends me some pictures and we set up a time for me to look at the floor. When I get there the young wife is there not the husband and she says the floor is behind the house ,so we go out back and I see the husband is putting together a longbox project 4x4 . She starts telling me about some of the trucks he's built and I'm becoming painfully aware that she knows more about these old trucks than I do . She shows me the floor and its in good shape . The underside is nearly perfect aside from the two holes someone torched out of it to run stacks up through it .I paid the full asking price as this was going to save me a lot of time and money. Now this house was in the country and had a big yard ,my truck was parked in front of the house about 300 ft away so I asked if I could pull around back to load up.To my surprise she said no just take one side and we carried it out to my truck and loaded it in. I never met the husband but I wonder if he knows how lucky he is to have a wife that shares in his hobby.

I started talking to my girlfriend when I was finishing up my engine rebuild and she was always angry that I didnt text her while I was working on it, but now that shes been in it she loves it to death and wants one of her own. And she thinks its hot when im covered in grease from working on it. Haha.

I was looking for a set of doors for my truck since im painting it, and I found a set of aftermarket doors on craigslist for 80 for the pair. I texted the guy and he said if I went and got them that night hed give me a really good deal on them because he didnt have the space for them. Brought em home for 50 for the pair. My dad and I have found tons of great deals on there.  Like a 500 dollar pool table and we brought it home for 150.
