What wheel/tire package for '87 longbed
« on: February 04, 2005, 01:12:00 pm »
I have considered more than once, putting a nice set of wheels on my Silverado.  But longbed trucks haven't quite gained the popularity that swb trucks have, but I can look at my truck and tell it has potential.  It already sits perfectly level from the factory, but I may drop the whole thing 2" to set it off, but I was wondering if anybody could recommend an excellent wheel to really make a longbed truck look good.  I kinda like the American Racing Torq Thrust II, 17's on front and 18's on back. But wanted to know what youall think.  And if you have any good pictures of such trucks, please email them to me at fslay@hotmail.com

Thanks

right now i have 15 inch Eagle Alloys on my truck. but i want the Weld Racing Draglite 90 series reams with 10 inch wide reams on the back with 295/50R15 tires and then some 8 inch wide reams on the front with 235/75R15 tires.my truck is a swb but i think they would look good on a lwb too.but that just what i think would look good.

17x8 in the front with 245/45/17 and 17x 9.5 rear with a 275/40/17 and run about a 3.5 inch back spacing. This is what I am going to put on my 74 2wd blazer project with a 5/7 drop
This tire setup is about 2.5 -3 inches shorter than the stock 235/75/15s so you speedo will read faster than you are actually going, maybe 3-5 mph.
Here is a sight you can play around with different calculaters to see what tires would be close to the same size you currently have... speedworldmotorplex.com/calc.htm
