New truck
« on: September 19, 2011, 12:09:17 am »
I made the big move from California to Alaska and I was unable to get my 73 K2500 square body ready for the trip.  I needed a truck and bought one.  I am now the proud owner of a 2001 F350 SRW 4x4 crew cab.  I know it's a Ford but the price was right and it's a Diesel so the thing is a monster.  The 73 might make it some day but until then I can go to Lowes without having to put lumber in my AMC Eagle.

So what took you to Alaska ?  How do you like it there ?

I took a motorcycle trip up here 3 years ago and I had it in the back of my head that I wanted to come up here to live.  I had some of the big wigs form work come work with me in California and they mentioned that Alaska was a market where they needed good help.  I volunteered to go.  With California being hard up for money they cut acceptance to University so my girlfriend couldn't get into school.  She got into school up here as well.  It worked out great for everyone.  We woke up this morning to the first snow on the mountains.

I'm not sad to be out of that mess for sure.  California is a crazy place.  I guess that's the price you pay for the sunshine... even though in the summer I get more hours of sunshine than they do

I'd take more snow and less stupid gun laws... I don't wanna give up my 17 round mags when I get around to moving back.

Oh yeah, I know this, I can just bring the big mags with me, and just carry my 1911 MkIV when I am a resident long enough to get my concealed permit again.

Talking about firearms on a truck website? Now we're talking my language. :)
I think the two go together very nicely.
Have a great day guys.

slammed, you will never get a concealed permit in california. No Sheriff will ever grant it to you, and if they do, it would only be for a short while because you have a serious reason.

Beastie- I heard the fun police have gotten more strict about issueing a CCW in California. Mine was issued in Shasta County in 2005. Living in a remote area was definetly a benefit. My mom has had one since 2000 in shasta county as well.
