Any of the three can be made to run properly when set up right. I prefer holley due to there simple design. A lot of people will choose a q-jet becuase they believe they will get better fuel mileage due to the spreadbore design. IMO a properly tuned carb and driven vehicle will see the best fuel economy. I know how to set up a holley carb to preform the way I want it to and it has a simple easy to understand and effective design that allows you to easily make adjustments.
If what you have on your truck now is working-why not just keep using it?

i actually had to get another carb.  there was a holley 600 on the truck when i got it, but it wasn't working properly...you could adjust with only 1 screw (the one on the passenger side of the motor...the driver's side did nothing).  the truck also ran like crap.  my mechanic suggested going with an edelbrock.  he told me that the holley's are very finicky when it comes to tuning.  so we ended up at auto zone and i got the edlebrock 600 (performer series i believe).  got it on and set up and now the engine runs great.  i've had the truck since early august and i'm just now able to drive it.  i had a holley on my 355 that was in my s10...600 i believe it was.  that carb wasn't bad.  i guess it's all on personal preference...

I also like Holley's, very simple to work on and adjust, also with electric choke

Carbs are like a lot of things. It depends a lot on what different people are used to running, and familiar with.

I like Holley myself. I can tune them to do what I want.

Any carb that boasts, "bolt on and go" will likely leave HP on the table. I want to be able to tune mine and make use of the other components I build into my engine. So I buy a Holley every time. Myt latest build was a mild 350 for my 4x4 burb. I slapped a 670 street avenger on it and had to do very little tuning to make it work well.

Others will say that Edle's and q-jets are just as adjustable. And I don't doubt it. I am familiar with holley so that's what I use.
There are two tools needed, duct tape and WD40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD 40.

it still has the stock quadrajet as of right now. when i install my edelberock performer intake ill problably just use the quadrajet. it runs too good to mess with it.
