welll here in the great state of texas the back window can be as dark as you please, but the sides have to be 25%. but no one obeys that, half the trucks here are darker than that.

I'd go no darker than 5% personally,  and with this being your first ride, I'd not do it till you have some wheel time in. Unless of course you like backing into stuff and sideswiping other cars on the freeway

Anyone used nightshade tint on a window?  I know several used it on taillights and markers.  How hard is it to avoid tiger stripes out of a spray can?  I was thinking that would work better than stick on tint.

do light thin coats let them dry then do more and more and more.

it just means you cant see in. you can see out. and its legal on the back window

not what i was saying completely. what i was saying was with tint it obscures your vision seeing out. i dont care if you have 5-20 its still limits it view from both side just seeing in is easier. but when your view is on purposely obscured by tint why would you need to turn the defrosters on to clean the view up. kind of like washing your truck before you go mudding

      Tinting is not that hard, but harder when the glass is still in the car, if it was out easy as pie, I have done it to several vehicles of mine, I just take out the glass now.  For me, it is a better finish and you can hide the edges better.
