Haulin' stuff with our Chevys!

Spent a long weekend hand leveling and grading my shop for the slab. I've hauled a lot of stuff with my '77 over the years, but this weekend I think I broke the bank! I figured I hauled a total of about 16 tons with my truck over the weekend!!! Mostly sand at 1 yd at a time. Started off with 3/4 of a yard cause a yd of sand weighs about 3,000 lbs. Second load I went for the full yard because I still had suspension left in the back. I'm happy to report that my 3/4 ton hauls 1-1/2 tons in the bed without even working up a sweat!
So...I'm sure others have hauled more with their trucks, so lets hear it!

I hauled 1 1/2 yards of gravel (3 scoops) in my long bed 85. It squated and drove terrible, but it made it.

There was 16 tires, 4 rims on the nose of the trailer and the jeep was pulled up against the tires, so the rear wheels were about mid way between the 2 axles and the front/engine weight was about 2 ft from the nose. So pretty much all of it was tongue weight. We were clearing off the side of the house and the drive way. Behind the jeep was a bunch of rubbermaid tubs full of junk. The jeep was already on the trailer with most of the weight on the trailer axles, but then we put the tires on and moved the jeep forward to put more stuff on. We ended up.epmtyong the rubbermaids at the house then took the tires to a used tire shop. We loaded the trailer all back-a**-wards.

I've had 2,000 lbs of sand in my old 77 1/2 ton. It had HD suspension so it did well. Rode like a cadillac.
I had 2,300 lbs of scrap metal in my old 87 1/2 ton. It had the lightest suspension available. Drove like a radio flyer.
I had about 3,200 lbs of concrete blocks in my 78 3/4 ton. It has 1 ton suspension. Rode like a cadillac.

I just hauled a load to the landfill, full of aleast 2 layers of shingles from my dad's garage with my 1984 K10. The total weight was 8300 lbs before unloading the truck. After loading it was 5300 lbs, so the total weight was 2900 lbs. The truck frove fine, just was worried about the old tires on it.

beneze that doesnt add up if it weighed 8300 loaded and 5300 unloaded i looks like it would be 3000lbs that it hauled

Had a 60 inch plasma in the back of my 78 Stepside not too long ago. Had more looks than normal from the guys I drove by. Guess they liked the tv or truck or both.
