New from IL
« on: October 21, 2011, 07:52:39 pm »
Hi I'm Ron I'm new to the site, just got my 1st truck.I've always had sportcars but found lately I could really use a truck. So I bought this 86 silverado from my neighbor for $800.He has owned it for the last 15yrs. and always maintained and babied the truck. It does need a little work as far as body but not too bad though. My plans for are New exhaust(Flowmasters),New Wheels(torque thrusts),and then the bodywork and paint. As far as the body it has very little rust on both cab corners bout half dollar size, then the bed needs replaced from the preveious owner running it down a post of some sort.

Hi Ron.  Welcome from Alaska.  I like the colors on your truck.

I don't know how much a new bed would cost in your area.  Maybe as much as what you paid for the whole truck.  Check out the catalog on this site for cab corners and bed parts.  Here's a link for the bedside parts:  http://store.73-87chevytrucks.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=7&Category_Code=7387Beds

You can go from there for other sheet metal, etc.

Well I looked at getting a new  bedside   has them for $350 then $25 for the cab corners and that would take care of the body.Gonna keep searching craigslist maybe a cheap bed will pop up,but I'm leaning towards new bedside because the rest of the bed is nice.I also been checking out the Roll on bedliner that I will be doing just trying to find which one.

Just got a chrome tube grille from a buddy for giving him a hand will post some pic's in a little bit

Here's some pic's
