TBI harness questions

Hey guys couple of questions.  When eliminating a wire from the harness what exactly is done?  Just clip it and cap off or should it be removed entirely from the plug so the ECM doesn't even see the connection?
I tried to attach a photo of the harness (my first try);  I'll post pics as I go along if there's interest.
My truck is an 86, I got the throttle body and harness from an 87.

depends on what you're getting rid of, ideally you want to de-pin it completely, especially if the circuit is live.

Thanks, I don't think I'm going to use EGR and I understand there are other wires that many people eliminate--I just haven't gone through the entire harness yet.

Your aren't really going to gain much from removing the EGR, and the ECM is expecting it, so it will require a custom chip to eliminate it or you will be throwing codes.

Could anyone tell me which intake manifold gasket to buy--one for the '87 TBI intake or one for the
1986 350 that the intake will sit on?  The difference seems to be in the water passages at the rear.
